city governance
Cave City is governed through a Mayor - Council form of government. The City Council sets city policy by passing ordinances and resolutions, and sets the annual city budget after being proposed by the Mayor.
Mayor
Jonas Anderson is a proud son of Cave City, Arkansas and the surrounding area. After joining the City Council in 2010, he was first sworn into office as Mayor on July 25th, 2017. His public service work extends beyond Cave City, too. He joined the Arkansas Municipal League’s Executive Committee in 2018, and was elected to serve as the organization’s president in 2023; the first league officer from Sharp County in the organization’s history. From the beginning of his public service, he has focused on making Cave City the best version of itself that it can be; a proactive, forward-thinking community that honors its past while marching ahead toward a brighter future.
Professional endeavors aside, Jonas is most at home in the role of husband to his incredibly supportive wife, Jessica, and dad to their three sons. That's what gets him up every morning, and drives him forward each and every day.
City Council
Our City Council consists of eight members, with two each representing one of four different wards in the city. Members are elected at-large and serve two-year terms. Regular meetings of the City Council are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at City Hall, unless otherwise announced.
